Providence Curriculum Redesign Project
These units of study have been developed around the principles of Disciplinary Literacy. Providence is currently engaging in a redesign of its History curriculum. Students are engaging in deep historical inquiry using a document-based approach to learning history. In many ways, these units reflect a shift towards building a thinking curriculum that mirrors the work of real historians in the field. The Institute for Learning (IFL) at the University of Pittsburgh is our partner in this work. A unit of study on the decision to drop the atomic bomb is forthcoming.
